BIOGRAPHY OF LARRY SCHWARTZ:

Lawrence (Larry) Schwartz spent forty three years in the news business. His career began at WKRC, while attending Columbia University, where he became news director. He graduated with a degree in Liberal Arts in 1957.

After college, he worked for a short time in the insurance industry, but soon found out that despite the great money, he really wanted broadcasting. He left his budding insurance career and took a job as a mail boy at CBS in New York City. While there, he auditioned in Watertown, New York and got his first radio-television job on his first try, becoming an announcer and newsman at WCNY-TV and WWNY AM-FM.

From there, Mr. Schwartz became a night newsman at WLEU in Erie, Pennsylvania, then moved up to WWYN in that city as News Director and also took on the job as Producer and Anchorman for WSEE-TV's 11pm newscast. He developed, produced and anchored Erie's first weekly public affairs show. Meanwhile, he also worked as the city-county beat reporter.

From Erie, he moved on to Louisville, Kentucky where he was employed as producer and anchorman for the 11pm television newscast on WHAS-TV. He also worked as an anchor for WHAS-AM radio newscasts and did some street reporting as well.

After Louisville, Mr. Schwartz moved to the nation's first commercial television station, WRGB-TV in Albany-Schenectady-Troy, New York where he was employed as the television Assignment Editor. He also worked at the station's sister radio outlet, WGY-AM. Mr. Schwartz also ran a radio telephone talk show on WGY for 12-years. He was promoted to Assignment Manager for television and stayed in that job until his retirement in January of 1998. He's been the recipient of many awards including an Emmy nomination in 1989 for Sports Commentary.

Mr. Schwartz now heads up The Schwartz Group, which specializes in training people in business and the public sector in successful methods of approaching the news media. He and his wife, Berni have three children, Pepper Lisieski and Arthur and Adam Schwartz as well as two granddaughters, Shelby Sage and Rylee Thyme Lisieski. Larry and Berni live in Glenville, New York.
